An important message from the MAPLE league to our members
23 Jun 2016 by Nick Dunbar
The MAPLE Commission held a meeting on Tuesday the 21st. I would like to share some exciting news with you so you are aware of the happenings in your league.
First and most important, I would like to welcome Tom Goodman as our new Executive Director. Tom Goodman, M.Ed., has a very impressive soccer and education background. Coach Goodman is recognized nationally and internationally as a youth soccer expert. Some of Mr. Goodman’s past and current credentials are listed below:
- Masters Degree in Administration of Education
- USSF “A” License.
- USSF National Youth License.
- US Youth Soccer National Director of Coaching Education
- USSF Region I National Staff Coach
- Mass Youth Soccer Technical Director
- Director of Coaching and Player Development for the PA West Soccer Association.
- President/Director of World Class Soccer, Inc.
- President of the Windsor/World Class Soccer Club.
Mr. Goodman has coached at the recreation, travel, premier, high school, college, state ODP, regional ODP, youth national team and professional levels.
Coach Goodman is the author of soccer books and articles and the creator of coaching DVD’s. He is a highly respected and sought after speaker at club events, state and national soccer coaching and player development events and national sports educational symposia.
Mr. Goodman had this to say about his hiring, “I am excited to have been appointed as the MAPLE League’s Executive Director. I look forward to working with all of the clubs and soccer programs in Massachusetts and the surrounding states to make our league the absolute best youth soccer competition in the Northeast.”
I believe that the hiring of Tom is an important first step to revitalize our league and, with his knowledge and experience, we can move our league in a new direction.
Second, we continue to work and fine tune the restructuring of the league to provide the proper soccer experience for all. We have hired a marketing consultant to assist us in the re-branding of the league when restructuring is complete. In addition, we have hired a marketing assistant that will work to promote the league going forward.
Third, we are in the process of restructuring our Commission and how we run your league. We are going to establish an advisory/supervisory committee of club owners and/or directors of coaching who’s purpose will be to provide direction to the Commission with information important to the clubs.
I will continue to update you as all of these important steps are completed. Please contact me at any time if you have questions or concerns. Together, we will make this the best league in the state.
Thank You.
Steve Robinson
