Important notes for DOC's and Club Coaches

3 May 2016 by Nick Dunbar

For all member club DOC’s can you please ensure that the following information is distributed to your coaches. The notes below are specific to some of the changes that MAPLE has instigated this season, and even some older ones.

Substitution Rules
The rule reads “[…] MAPLE By-Laws […] Section II. RULES OF PLAY […] Item 3 SUBSTITUTION, Substitution for League competition will be unlimited, and may be made by either team on goal kicks and re-starts after goals and at the beginning of the second half, by both teams on throw-ins if the team in possession of the ball substitutes, and after injury stoppages […]”
The League interpretation is that Teams may substitute at any stoppage of play, following Laws of the game standard substitution procedures.

Team sizes
U10 play 8v8 as they did in the fall
U11 & U12 now play 9v9

Heading
All players in age groups U9, U10 & U11 shall not engage in heading in either practice or games.
All players age 10 years old and younger shall not engage in heading in either practice or games regardless of what age group program they are playing in. For example, a 10 year old playing on a U12 team may not head the ball although his teammates may.
In leagues with double age groups where the U11’s play on U12 teams heading at U12 is not allowed. This rule does not apply to MAPLE and heading is allowed in U12.

Roster Size for U13-U18
Although U13-U18 rosters may carry up to 22 players only 18 may play in a game. Any additional players over the 18 designated before the match must stay on the spectator side of the field.

Club Passes
Club passes are unlimited for the U9-U13 age groups. Players may be written on the roster prior to the game and must have a passcard and be age appropriate to the team.
Club passes for U14-U18/19 are limited to three per game. A player may play up an age group at any level. An age appropriate player may play down an age group only at the same level as they currently play or a higher one.
Players must be written on the roster prior to the game and a copy of the roster given to the opponent BEFORE the match begins.

Got Soccer
We are going to upload the entire schedule which will have all the scores recorded in it already at the end of the season. This will be a lot more accurate and not require any work on your part.

Suspensions
Suspension for a team official is now 2 games, not 3.
